How Circle Journal Work!

I have had a PM inquiring how the Circle Journal work with regards to posting out to the same person. This is the best way I can explain it for those of you that haven't done one and are not sure how it works, hope that this will explain it easier for you.

For example ... think of the party game "pass the parcel" except instead of having one parcel for 9 people there are 9 ladies with a parcel in their hand each (which are us), the parcel is our own journal .... then each parcel (journal) gets passed to the person next to them (we are standing in a circle, hence circle journal and we always pass to the same person) and so forth until everyone has held all of the 9 parcels individually and this carries on until everyone is back holding their own parcels (journals) again.

Ive never done one of these before. So I dont know if this is a silly question or not. But why is there a need to wait to post the journal off to the next person? Wouldnt it be quicker if you posted it as soon as you finish.

I haven't done one either Kirsten, but you make sense then when you've finished and send it on you could PM the people invovled...

Looks like most of us are CJ virgins except Skye..

I haven't even started my journal yet!!!! as I have had heaps of other stuff going on! So I am a CJ Virgin too- always seemed to complicated & expensive for me! But now I have a fair idea & is it a size A4 book we are doing? & made from Cardstock? Flipping heck , I don't know I haven't even finished Skye's embellies swap yet!!! Hope to get these 2 projects finished by Sunday & will fast post the embellies Skye!

its A5 deb, you could make it out of what ever you want, i bought a bella chipboard book cost me $7 at spotlight, shez told me to buy one cos it needs to be ready to post by next friday and i was running out of time, i only just finished my front cover today(its uploaded now) and havent started on the intro page or my own recipe yet

If you post off without waiting, someone might have three journals at their place and other people have none - it gets way too complicated - they journals get mixed up and people forget which one they should be posting on next...

It is much easier and smoother to keep to a roster and send when everyone sends it.

That ensures that
a) it is easy for Shez to keep track of which journal is where
b) there is no one without a journal at any given time
3) There is no one with a build up of three or four journals (it does happen, beleive me!)

Deb - a lot of people just buy the A5 size spiral bound visual Diaried (the ones with the black plastic cover) - they work just fine!

For this one, I used a Kaiser cover and just made my pages from card.

i know shez explained it, but the only thing that has me baffled is that we only send to the same person, how do we by the end of it had everyones

Ok Amanda, say the list looks like this:

Deb
Amanda
Skye


Deb will send her journal to Amanda, Amanda will send her journal to Skye, Skye will send her journal to Deb

Then next round, Deb will send Skyes journal to Amanda, Amanda will send Debs Journal to Skye, Skye Will send Manadas Journal to Deb... it keeps going around that way until you get it back.

no problem vic - I have seen so many of these journals go wrong.

There is one at SM at the moment that 2 ladies have just got really frusteated and pulled out because tha last journal they saw was back in January - they sent it on and never received the next one!

And one lady has 3 journals but has disappeared from the foum and gine missing!

yeah but the confusing part skye is, shez told me that we only send to the same person the whole time, because i told her she couldve got me to send to adnchic in wa cos i still have to send her LOs and made sense to me that i couldve posted my journal and her LOs in one go, and shez said it wont work because we send to same person the whole time...............im completely lost

Amanda, you do only send to the same person everytime, but each round you are sending a different journal...

So the first round, you will send your journal to elle.
Then you will receive Debs Journal.
Then you will send Debs journal to Elle
Then you will receive a new journal
Then you will send that journal to Elle...

you will always send to Elle, but it will be a different journal every time!

It should end up that everyone has had your journal so it does a full circle around every person on the list...... then ends back in your hands.

thats good to know you are busy behind our backs to make sure everything runs smoothly.

I've seen a couple of cj's that were going around the SM forum, a couple of my cousins in Tumut had one earlier in the year. I don't know if they are still in the forums (kata and tara) they are about to have babies in a month or something.

well amanda I was just reading through the pm from cat and was confusing my self again.

I'll start with you the first cj you will have is debs when you finish that you send it to elle she will do her page in debs after that then she sends it to kirsten. etc etc till we all have done a page in everyone's cj.

Hope I haven't confused you further or anyone else, in how I explained it.

Ok, I start with sending you my Album first & then every album that I receive sent onto me by Kylie, I do my work in them & then I send it into you when Shez gives the green light to mail out! So each new album I send to you belongs to another lady & so on! How does that sound?

That sounds a tad bitchy I know - I don't mean it to, but Shez and I have discussed it and Shez is running it the smoothest possible way.

You just have to trust in that.
Send it to whoever Shez tell you to send it to and it will all be good!
